Welcome to Tone's Tech Tips

The aim of this site is to discuss, inform and generally delve into technology, illuminating some of the best it has to offer.  From the internet and websites to software and virtualisation, from hardware and devices to operating systems and the internet of things, we’ll take a peek at multiple areas of interest along the way.  So don’t worry if you don’t know your DNS from your DHCP; you’ve come to the right place to learn as we pull back the curtain on this magical electronic world.

I’ve worked with technology for over fifteen years, first as an IT Technician and then (to this day) as a Network Manager. Over the years, I’ve set up many websites through my work, so I thought it was about time I created one of my own.  As you might imagine, technology has changed considerably during this time, and continues to change. Working with computers brings many trials and tribulations, but even now there’s nothing quite like the buzz that comes from discovering new tech or learning how to do something for the first time.

A small confession up front; as a Linux enthusiast, there may be a preference towards free and open source software, though this isn’t the intended focus.  Hopefully all the articles will be easy to follow, so even if you have no idea what the last sentence even meant, it makes no difference.  I’ll try my best to keep things down to earth.

So, without further ado, let’s begin our journey.  At Tone’s Tech Tips information is just a mouse click, or screen tap, away.  Join me as we discover some of the best (and often free) technology that’s available to us.  I hope you enjoy this website, and, most of all, don’t forget to have fun!

PS. Check out the “Articles”, see what’s “Recommended”, or take an “In-depth” look at a topic – all available from the top menu.  If you’re not sure what a word or phrase means, why not visit the “Glossary”.
